Location Advice Please

This first question is primarily for those in San Diego.
Where have you looked? What places did you think were terrible, which were nice (and reasonable)?
We are wanting a small outdoor wedding (as of this day, I'm guessing 100 or so people).

For everyone:
What do you think about outdoor weddings? I think it would be nice; if you had one outdoors, was it all you dreamed it would be? Did the weather cooperate? Did you have to deal with setting up and taking down seating, etc?

What about the location of the reception? It seems convenient to have it at the same place as the ceremony, but (I would guess especially for outdoor weddings) it's not always an option.

[ I forgot to mention when, that could make a difference. We are thinking spring, and as my mom does taxes, I figure it will probably last weekend in April or first weekend in May. We will have to see if that works when looking for a venue.]

  1. Jenn,
Jon and I had our wedding at the Submarine Base in Point Loma. It was beautiful and very reasonable. But, you have to know someone in the military who can sponsor you.
Our wedding was April 21 in the morning at 10:30 and it was supposed to be outside but it was overcast and raining and chilly. The wedding had to be moved indoors on pretty quick notice. (We were holding out as long as we could.) However the ceremony was beautiful and everyone was warm inside. And,during the ceremony the weather turned to sunshine and a typical San Diego day. We were even able to have our pictures taken outside and they turned out lovely.
Now, I have been to a few weddings in San Diego that were outside and the ones on the beach were comfortable. One wedding we attended was in Balboa Park and it was July or August and it was HOT!!
Overall, San Diego is one of the best places for an outdoor wedding. Your chances of having a gourgeous day are high.
